Default Will Stiletto take wav. files?

To start with, I want to say that I'm not sure I even know what a wav. file is. Anyway, I just bought a turntable that hooks into your PC via the microphone jack and records your LPs to a "Cakewalk Pyro" software package. Pretty cool as this software also cleans up pops and hickups that might be on the record. If you want to you can then burn cds from the LP tracks you've saved.

I noticed however, that it says the files are in wav. format, not mp3. Will I still be able to download the tracks to the Stiletto in this format? Does anyone know what a "wav." is and why they do this way rather than the normal mp3?

wav is an audio file just like a mp3. wav is the format a track is in on an audio cd, there's virtually no compression (i think). i believe the stiletto will only take in a mp3 file. there's a ton of software out there that can convert wav to mp3 though.

Thanks Jon, now I understand it. I was able to convert a wav. file to mp3 rather easily so now I'm all set. I know one thing - that wav. is a resources hog. The wav. file I converted was 170.3 mb in the original format and only 15.4 mb in mp3 format. That is where the compression comes in you were talking about. After I convert these things to mp3 I'll have to go back and just delete all those original wav. files.
