Post Scroll wheel problems

I purchased the Stiletto 100 w/car kit a few weeks ago from www.sirius.com. The Stiletto 100 is a great little toy. However, recently i've been having problems with the scroll wheel. It works great if pressed up, down, left or right (to play, pause, record, etc.) but sometimes it will not scroll when i scroll through the channels/menus.

However, i've found if i press hard in on the wheel, it will then work correctly. It seems as if the wheel keeps moving out of place. I've never dropped the Stiletto, and i keep it in a nice leather case for safety reasons.

I'm just wondering if anyone else had problems with their scroll wheel. I am hesitant to send it back to sirius.com for repair, due to the horror stories i've heard. It is still under warranty. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix the scroll wheel? I really don't want to wait months sending it to Sirius so they can take a look at it...

I'd take it back to the store for an exchange. They can send it back to Sirius and wait for a replacement after giving you a new one.

It'll have to go back to sirius.com.

Don't live with it any more. Send it back for replacement.

Update: I called Sirius and was told to send everything back via UPS. My Stiletto 100 is under warranty for another 3 days. I'm to call Sirius back once i get my UPS tracking number so they can send a new Stiletto 100 to me. They said it will take about 7-10 business days to receive the new replacement. I'll be without my Stiletto until then; luckily i still have my XACT receiver...

That's why so many of us here have strongly suggested for the past year buying Sirius products ONLY from your local big box store AND getting the extended warranty.

That way you will be without Sirius programming for minutes (depending on how far you live from the store, of course) instead of days, weeks or possibly months when they break.

The only reason to buy from sirius.com is if you're a AAA member. you could get a stiletto for pretty cheap, activated for free and shipped for free. I bought my SL100 from Best Buy w/ a 4yr PSP (Product Service Plan: They can't fix it...they replace it). It's the best way to go in my opinion. Sending off a receiver to Sirius doesn't sound like a great week.

I agree with both of you. However, the reason i bought it from Sirius.com is because i was able to save over $200 buying it from the site vs. any other store. I REALLY wanted to hold out for Best Buy, but they wanted $349.99 - just for the Stiletto 100.

Using my AAA membership discount, and HOLIDAY20 discount code, i was able to get the price down from $419.99 to $287.61. I placed the order on 12/27/06 with 2 day UPS delivery, so i also received the $70 rebate. I paid a total of $217.61 for the Stiletto 100 AND the car kit - One Hell of a Deal! ...It sucks having to wait a week or two (or God Forbid a month or longer!!!) for a replacement, but in my opinion, it was still worth saving over $200.

If that is what makes you comfortable than so be it. Personally I don't think saving 200 dollars is worth the headaches of dealing with the warranty dept. If the savings was 1000 dollars maybe I would consider it, but 200...

You know the old saying, you pay now or you pay later, but YOU WILL PAY! Well that applies to Shop-Sirius.Com more than any other online retailers I've ever seen.

There are people on this forum that would pay $200 not to be stuck in the nightmares they have been stuck in dealing with Shop-Sirius.Com or trying to deal with Sirius support for exchange warranty.

I have been on record for a long time saying folks should avoid them at all cost. We all like to save money, but saving money with them, ends up causing way, way too much in the long term. I hope its only a month, we had some folks waiting 5 months, would it still have value then? Or you are suppose to get a Stiletto and you can an antenna or a car dock kit. I could go on and on, but I won't.

I agree Peddler if you are happy, then power to you. But there are many that have been told 10 days... over and over. Let's hope it real for your sake.

I really hope you still feel this way after dealing with Sirius. Good luck!
