Default 250 song love limit??

Pretty disappointed as I found out there is a limit on number of songs able to be loved by sirius according to my stiletto as of last week.

Is this new limit or has this been in effect since the release of the unit? I'm trying to return the unit as this was my main reason for buying it. Any info is appreciated, as the place i purchased it will let me exchange if I can show that the terms of use have changed since release. Thanks.

Nope, the 10 hour limit has been in effect since the radio was made. XM has a radio that can record to its full capacity (I'm a dual sub, and it's a great little radio), XM is also getting sued for said radio. Sirius went the smart route and made a deal with the record companies FIRST. This is a stipulation of that deal.

I think if this merger goes through you'll quickly see SIRIUS settle that lawsuit and this same limitation will more than likely be added to the XM tuners. I just don't see SIRIUS continuing in this lawsuit for the sake of allow unlimited ability to record specific songs. I personally have no issues with the 10 hour limit. Sure it would be nice if we didn't have it, but I'd rather SIRIUS not be in a lawsuit. Many will just not upgrade their tuners, but their only responsibility will be to make the change via a firmware update, just like XM did with the FM thing.

That would have been great to mention recording time instead of flash capacity when i bought it. I'm sitting at 33% of the unit's memory being used but i have 10 hours already.

What about the radio replay, or recording blocks of one channel? The replay is limited only to available space and I think you get almost 100hrs of recording from channels...then there is always uploading. I'd check the OSFRTFM post, there you can get all the specifics and then decide if you can live with a mere 10hrs of songs.

You could also try, depending on your computer situation, saving the tracks off of your stiletto onto your computer as mp3's, there's a forum about that, and then you might be able to mix and match to have everything you want.

The recording time is 100 hours, there is just a limit on the amount of individual songs you can save. Also most web sites that you go too that sell the Stiletto SL100 do indeed mention this fact. No its not on the box, but I don't think they needed to put that on the box because what they do have on the box is accurate.

...I think...

Short of including a memory stick slot(a major oversight IMO) the s100 holds quite a bit.

Thanks for the break down. I agree with you I am more than satisified with the amount of space and the way it is divided up.

Just one correction or clarification:

900 MB of MP3's WMA's
Replay and Scheduled Recording content is only limited by the amount of available memory left after 10 hours of recording songs and 900 mb of mp3's and wma's. If you have no mp3 or wma's then that space too is used for Replays and Scheduled Recording content.

If they made a Stiletto with say 4gb, 6gb or 8gb, I probably would finally give up my iPod. But considering that right now I mainly use it for Sirius content, I am happy!

Thankfully, the inno can't be forced to have a firmware upgrade done to it, so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I'm still on 1.05 because I need the FM transmitter .

A big draw back to the wifi mode of the s100 IMHO. You should be able to turn off auto updates fo' sure!

This is true there is no way to use the Wifi mode without it automatically updating. Though in all honesty I've never really had a problem with that.

My Inno is updated to the latest firmware too as I find the benefits of upgrading far outweigh the use of FM. Which just for the record if the only way I could listen to Sat Radio was via FM Tranmission I'd just as well not have it. I freaking HATE using FM Tran and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they did away with it totally. I do realize that many folks would be elminated as subscribers and that I may be alone in my thinking, but it is the way I feel about it.

I love a good direct connect setup and have always been fairly happy with the SQ with this type setup.

Yes I totally understand. For a couple of years I had a company van that I had to use the FM Trans. I finally decided the heck with it and at my own expense swapped out the head unit for one that had direct connection. LOL In July I am buying myself a new company vehicle and you can bet that will be one of the biggest considerations.
