Default Who Am I? Week #2

Alright, kids, it's time for week number two of "Who Am I?" Remember, the winner wins a piece of my gratitude.

The subject is a TITLE.

Here's the first clue for the week:
CLUE #1: I was first seen in the Summer of 1972.

^^ That movie was released in March 1972 and was based on a book of the same name released in 1969.

I think I know the answer, but will wait for the second clue to be sure.

It's not The Godfather.

And now....

CLUE #2: Truman Capote, Jack Nicholson, Johnny Carson and Barbara Walters all admitted to seeing me.

^^...and there it is!

What I was going to guess was not even close to that, but it's funny that Baba Wawa admitted she watched that movie.

"Deep Throat" wasn't like porn today. It was considered "respectable" at the time. Lots of people who had never seen porn before went to see it. That was a weird time for films. "Midnight Cowboy" got an X rating and won 3 Academy Awards in 1969. Hardcore porn came out of the peep shows and started running in big theaters.

And yes, memebag's the big wiener, er, winner for this week.

My other clues, BTW were: "I started with a scene of the Atlantic Ocean near Miami", "Despite being a pioneer of my genre, my genre's history's as old as film itself" and "Two words: Mark Felt".

Another new "Who Am I?" is coming its way on Monday.
