Barry Bonds, Is gonna sneak out of the lime light. If your sympathetic to him, then I guess that is smart. It is feasible to me that Rapheal Palmero won't make the Hall of Fame now.....Opinions?

I still believe that Raffy will make it. As an Oriole fan I am disappointed in him. I have always said that the greatest Oriole 1st baseman was Eddie Murray, he played in the pitcher friendly Memorial Stadium and have similiar numbers.

I was never an Oriole fan because I live near New York. I do respect the Orioles though, particularly Cal Ripken Jr. and yes Eddie Murray. I do however disagree about " Raffy " getting in the Hall of Fame. You gotta look at a bigger picture, here. If he gets in, what kind of sign does that give the youth.. (It's all right to use steriods) I don't think society wants to paint that picture.

All I know is that it's yet another reason to hate MLB baseball.

Palmeiro is not worthy of The Hall Of Fame. The "Hall Of Very Good", yes. But, The HOF, no! To compare him to Eddie Murray is a slap in the face to the greatest switch-hitting 1st basman to ever play (not to mention the most well-kept 'fro in MLB). How many World Series Rings does Palmiero have? ZERO. How many MVP's? ZERO. With Palmiero out of the lineup, his teams didn't suffer much. With Murray out of the lineup, his teams were average at best. Palmeiro has great individual stats: 4 All-Star appearances, 3 Gold Gloves, 2 Silver Slugger Awards, and a career .289 hitter. Very good, but not Hall Of Fame worthy.

Eddie is the man, he was voted the toughest "out" in baseball three years in a row by MLB pitchers. He was so damn consistant. It broke my heart when he left the Orioles.

And you would never find Eddie Murray having to defend himself from test results of a banned or illegal substance in his playing days. Palmiero's outside shot at The Hall Of Fame is now gone. Forget it, Raffy. You're not getting in.

well i haven't followed sports since i was about 21 or so.

but of all the hitters i had the opportunity to view, the guy i would most want at the plate for my team in a clutch situation was a first baseman from the giants - by the name of willie mccovey.

they would slide everyone over to the right field side, much like i was told that they did for ted williams on the other side.

i am not sure why you are picking on baseball. surely you don't think that this is the only sport that takes steroids ? in fact, baseball is not that much of a strength sport - certainly not like football, or even basketball, which has man to man contact. or track and field sprint events ?

Simple--if they used steroids they should be out. If they are already in and we learned that they used steroids kick'em back out.

Simple belief--zero tolerance for steroid using pro athletes.
