The biggest diffrence between the two is the storage capacity. The amount of storage you get goes up every second.

Aside from the storage issue, while both Yahoo and Google are search-able, Google doesn't let create folders, rather its more of a classification system so all your mail still sits in one big inbox but then you can apply a filter to find to specific groups. I would prefer folders but this works, too.

Yahoo lets you do folders but then they don't let you do filters.

I like google more because it seems "lighter" meaning less graphics overhead in the page and its synched up with my blog and Picasa.

I keep myYahoo because I have had the same account since MyYahoo started, I think that might have been in 1996 or 1997 and since I have SBC as my ISP at home its synched up with that as well. I also use it for all my online registrations so most of my spam goes there and I use gmail for actual correspondence.

Also, there is one drawback to googlemail in sending files. They won't let you send .exe or .zip files on the fear that they think you could be spreading a virius. I have not tried renaming the extension yet but that is sort of a pain, too. Makes sense in a way, they are doing their part from stemming the flow of viriuses and other potentially harmful Malware but at the same time it kind of conflicts with the free speach and the first amendment. Then again, they are offering it for free so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Oh, and yes, I do have a hotmail account but at 250 Mb, its just not worth it.

Thanx for the answers!

It sounds like its much better than Hotmail and kinda better than Yahoo.. Problem is that changing an e-mail address is just such a pain in the neck...

Im all for blocking of exe files, but why zip files?

Also do people need "invites" to use G-mail instead of just going there and signing up?

Yes, as far as I know, you must receive an invite in order to sign up. Changing a primary email address is a pain but then again, so is moving or changing jobs.
