Default The Dukes of Hazzard

I just saw The Dukes of Hazzard movie and I heard the some critics gave it some bad reviews on it, but I don't care what they say about it! I give it thumbs up!!! Some scenes of it remind me of this old movie - Smokey & The Bandit, which that movie wasn't bad either!

So has anyone seen the movie yet and what are your thoughts on it?

I'll wait for DVD. It looks like it could be funny, but I had it pegged for failure after seeing the previews.

Did you watch the TV series in the 70's? I know I did.

If you're a fan of Bo and Luke you need a new General Lee! And yes, it does include Sirius Satellite radio.

It looks cool, but the original one will always be the best...

LOL, i was originally talking just about the General Lee, but realized that the same thing could be said of the movie!!

Catherine Bach (back in the day) is wayyyyyy sexier than Jessica Simpson... Jessica is pretty, but not really "sexy"..

In talking about the Dukes going to #1 in the box office opening weekend, this was a quote (it seems to be written by someone who was a fan of the original)

Quote:
"Dukes of Hazzard" stars Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville -- hardly marquee names -- alongside tabloid staple Jessica Simpson, a middling pop singer noted for conveying a ditzy image in a reality TV show. Willie Nelson and Burt Reynolds co-star. The studio said about two-thirds of the audience was aged under 25, indicating that older moviegoers who grew up with the show were not strongly inclined to revisit Hazzard County.

Before Warner Bros. could release "Dukes of Hazzard," it agreed to pay $17.5 million in an out-of-court settlement to a group of people who held rights to the TV show, and whose litigation threatened to hold up the film's release. A delay would have been harmful to the studio since it was already committed to a major advertising campaign.
Oh yeah, here's the original TV Cooter's opinion on the movie..

Same here. I enjoyed the original series, but I'm not really a big fan of Hollywood turning former television shows into feature films.

I'll rent it. Jessica Simpson looks like a man and is a complete moron. Much like Cameron Diaz.

Is it just me, or would Katie Holmes have made a great Daisy?

Has there ever been a movie that was re-created by the original TV series that was ever any good? I can't think of one, and this one is no differen't. For people to spend their hard-earned money on this crap is mind boggling to me. Hollywood is just continuing to throw up the white flag and telling everyone "We don't have a single original idea in our heads, anymore." By continuing to spend your money on these movies, you're only telling Hollywood that it's OK to keep funneling crap at you and insulting your intelligence.

"The Untouchables" is a good example of a popular TV show that turned into a pretty respectable and popular movie.

Personally I liked the "Addams Family movie", the "Brady Bunch Movie", and "Car 54 Where Are You" (yes, it seems like Im the only one in the world who liked that one)

OK! "The Untouchables". I'll concede that one. That was a good movie that was spawned from the original radio/TV show. I'm still at a loss to think of any others.... Bueller? Beuller? Anyone?!

Batman. Sorry, but Adam West was a has been even back in the 60's. Michael Keaton did the role much better.
