same here in rhode island, lowest is 2.41, but there still are some stations up around the 2.65 range. I just keep putting $10 in my truck since it seems to drop a few cents every couple days.

OPEC is now saying that oil could go below $40 a barrel. Which begs the question 'why are we still relying on OPEC?'

Because we can't drill for oil here. People don't want their views destroyed with offshore wells. They'd much rather give the money to people like President chavez and Iran.

That's probably true most places in America, except where I live, in South Louisiana. We'll take all the oil drilling and production we can get. Our economy has been booming for about 15 years.

About two weeks ago, Chevron announced the discovery of a new oil field in the Gulf of Mexico. "Some observers said the reserves in the area could boost the U.S. total oil and gas supply by as much as 50 per cent, while the Wall Street Journal said the region could become the nation's biggest new domestic source of oil since the discovery of Alaska's North Slope." This news may not affect gas prices, but it was good news for the S. Louisiana economy.

Here in Columbia, MD, where there is a fee paid to the Columbia Association (a pseudo local government of sorts) by homeowners and businesses, gas is around $2.509. I put in about three gallons into my son's truck at $2.539 this morning so he could make up to his girlfriend's house in Catonsville (Baltimore County) where it's a lot cheaper. He called me to say he paid *2.229* up there.
