I doubt we will ever see a significant gas price drop anytime soon.

I double-checked it today and it's actually $2.55 a gallon here. I don't know why our country doesn't start making it's own fuel. Diesel engines were originally made so farmers could make their own fuel from vegetable oil-based products. You can easily convert a standard diesel engine to run on veggie oil with no loss of power or engine longevety (some say it actually is better for the engine) and the exhaust is not harmful to the enviroment. I'd rather be buying fuel where the money goes to our county's economy.

It was $2.55 for about a week, and within the last couple days it's down to $2.49. I can only hope and pray that it continues to come down, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's funny because a year ago I never thought I'd be saying "Wow, gas is ONLY $2.49 today..." and actually being happy about that! Let's hope it keeps going lower...

(by the way it's still around $2.65 where I am outside Philadelphia, as high as $2.75 at some places.)

Filled up today it was $2.499, there was a sign on the fuel pump that said that there were 34.4 cents per gallon in State and Federal Taxes.

The federal tax is 18.4 cents per gallon. SC state tax is .16 cents per gallon for a total of 34.4 cents per gallon.

You can look up your state here.

The three states with the highest gas taxes.

WI 50.5 cents per gallon

NY 50.3 cents per gallon

PA 49.5 cents per gallon

The three states with the lowest gas taxes.

GA 25.9 cents per gallon

AK 26.4 cents per gallon

FL 32.4 cents per gallon

Gasoline in SE CT has been hovering around $2.599 - $2.629 the last few days, at least at the pumps I've seen.

Default Gas Prices

In the Boise area the current price is around $2.45/gallon. Some stations have "club" cards that reduce the price by 3 cents a gallon.
