For gym...

Honda FSX

People should get a huge tax break for these vehicles. Anyone in congress willing to do that?

well i guess one thing is for sure. california is further along the hydrogen highway than any other state, and apparently we are furthest in southern california.

it makes sense to start in an area with lots of cars and miles put on them. not to say anything about our clear black, er i mean blue sky - lol.

the first people to get them will be high mileage, since it costs 600 a month in lease. that would be a bit expensive for the 100 miles a week that i drive. but lots of people commute 50 miles each way to work.

gosh, i hope this takes off, and is not just another smokescreen. i feel better knowing that it is a japanese company and not an american one - at least they may be less influenced by the american politics.

Anyone look into Hydrogen Injection for diesel engines? Supposed to save 10-20% in fuel cost and have cleaner emissions.

They're getting their hydrogen from natural gas. Do you know what they're doing with the CO2?

So, is it just that the word "hydrogen" excites you, and you really don't care about environmental impact?

What's to argue? I'm just curious why the element hydrogen gets you so worked up.

kinda funny isn't it. Have to use natural resources (and alot of them) as well as possibly nuclear energy to produce hydrogen. Kind of reminds me of the board game chutes and ladders.

Meanwhile think of all the ways electricity can be generated to charge up a battery. Water (no pollutants) air (no pollutants) the sun (ok, the sun will eventually supernova and destroy every planet in the solarsystem... but lets not get too ahead of ourselves).

the only reason why hydrogen is being proposed so much is because there is the potential for large profit to be made off it.

Hydrogen can be produced from wind or solar, too, though. Ultimately, hydrogen is just another kind of battery. It can be cleaner and more efficient than batteries like lithium ion, but it isn't really a source of energy.

Actually it's because you can actually go further than a couple dozen miles before you have to recharge a battery. And you don't need a whole trunk full of posonoius hazard waste when the batteries die in a year or two. And a battery has to be recharged anyway thus once again nuclear energy.

That hoda car uses a lithion ion battery.

well, lets see - we have a car that spits out water vapor as its only exhaust. and now it looks like we might be able to start out with fuel cells, instead of using it as a fuel in a combustion engine. i am even more excited.

mem and sox are griping because the system isnt perfect on day 1. gymee is excited because he knows that the potential is HUMONGOUS. did i say THAT THE FUTURE POTENTIAL IS HUMONGOUS ?

note to gymee : mem and sox are excellent workers, but do not hire them as your long-term planners. they dont look out beyond the end of their nose.

Don't worry, you couldn't afford me.

So you're excited just because of the words "hydrogen" and "fuel cell", and some future humongous potential, but you don't know anything about the actual environmental impact. Do I have that right?
