Why don't I? Because, as I've said several times, I don't want to believe anything.

Please tell me what you think I want to believe.

i realize that there are different writings of the bible. mine starts out "in the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth".

no use of the word elohim. but as i gave you already, the wiki had a good explanation for it.

There are many translations of Genesis, but there's just one Hebrew text. The 3rd word of that text is "אֱלֹהִים", which is commonly transliterated in English as "Elohim".

Why are you replying to a 2 week old post?

i often reply to older posts that i have not yet replied to. sometimes i like to stay on 1 thought until basically finished, and then start another. that is why you often see me make several replies to a long post of someone else's.

the purpose is for each of my posts to be more specifically about just one topic.

there are several older posts on this thread that i have not yet replied to.

i am perfectly willing to admit that believers rationalize so as to confirm their horse in the race.

what i find hilarious is that non-believers seem oblivious to the fact that they have this same trait. many want to believe that god does not exist, just as much as many believers want to believe that god does exist. your horse is the non-existence of god, and it is as big a stallion as any stallion of a believer.

What does that have to do with the topic? My absence of belief in the supernatural doesn't predispose me to a particular view of the evolution of Judaism.

More generally, the burden of proof is always on the believer. I don't have to "believe" that no gods exist, I can assume it until proven otherwise.

it has everything to do with the topic. i am answering your question of why you want to hear negative confirmations regarding judaism, christianity, or any other belief systems in god.

i am answering your question as to why you want the history of the judaic/christian god to be shown untrue, inaccurate, etc.

The history of Judaism happened, no matter what anyone thinks. I just want to find out what it is.

Do you believe Rome was founded by an orphan who had been nursed by a she-wolf? If you don't, is it because you harbor a grudge against Romans and/or their mythology?

If you believe that Judaism didn't evolve from other religions, that it was started by Adam or Abraham or Moses according to your interpretation of the Torah, why do you accept that origin story and reject the one about Romulus?

A little late to the thread but I have video proof that God does exist (check the 1:52 mark)

(Disclaimer: language is very nsfw and may be considered offensive to those with strong beliefs towards God. To those taking this serious, name the last time God was flowin' from the survival scrolls quoting Gang Starr)

no one is arguing that judaism didnt have a history, as far as i know. everything has a history.

i have said that i dont know how judaism started.

and i have said that over and over again, you have shown negativity towards god, christianity, etc. so when you support your ridiculous arguments regarding the sermon on the mount, instead of the obvious - and you put forth only those archaeological finds that support your beliefs, - it is obvious to me that you are EXTREMELY BIASED. did i say EXTREMELY ?

once an animal quacks, it can forget about convincing me it is something other than a duck. you have quacked, and quacked quite loudly. when you are willing to admit this bias, you can begin to make an honest search for the truth, instead of what you are currently doing - looking for evidence that supports want you want to believe, and disregarding anything to the contrary.

and please dont ask me to explain to you what you want to believe. i have already done this many times, and have explained the rationale for it.

you are ever bit as biased in your desire to show that god does not exist or is not likely to exist, as much as the firm believer is in showing that god does exist, or is likely to exist.

i dont know anything about it. but from your description - no, i dont.

the difference is that i never knocked greek or roman mythology.

you have said so many bad things about god/christianity that your cards were already well displayed.

it is a part of your current emotional make-up to wish that god does not exist.

that does not mean that it will always be so. it is very hard to become unbiased. most of us are brainwashed with some sort of religious thinking.

it has only been in the past 5 years or so that i have been able to admit that i dont know if god exists, and be comfortable with it. by comfortable, i mean not thinking that i am going to hell for it, or be reprimanded in any way by god, if he does exist.

i am simply being honest. i have taken a large effort to simply separate what i know from that which i have been taught. on the spiritual level, there is little to nothing that i really know. but when i delete everything that i have been taught, and simply use my brain, i think i come closer to what is expected of me. this is what makes the most sense to me, at this time.

and i dont mean the following sarcastically. i truly hope that you will also have a spiritual thinking that is non-biased. and i actually think that you will, at some point.

so though we will no doubt argue vehemently at times on this subject, there is no malice intended.

Next queastion: is it because you harbor a grudge against Romans and/or their mythology?

You keep saying this, but it isn't true. When we were discussing Christianity, I described different interpretations of scripture, but I didn't say any "bad things" about it or God.
