Fotodad, you need to seek some professional counseling right away. Not marriage counseling - individual psychiatric counseling for your own mental health, and probably some medication. Depression is not something you want to take lightly. Get the yellow pages out now and look under "Mental Health Services" and make a call.

No one on Sirius Backstage can give you the kind of help you need online. Stop listening to us and get to a qualified mental health practicioner ASAP.

Good luck and God bless.

I couldn't agree more with the above advice. This is the best advice that can be given at this point. Fotodad, I can tell you from personal experience that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. You can get out of that downward spiral and be a survivor, too. Please, please do this, Fotodad.

Please find something positive in all this for me!

You will not be phased out of your childrens life, as long as you keep yourself in it!! You need to live for the now and stop thinking about the what ifs and what will happen 1, 3, 10 yrs from now. You really need to talk with a professional to help you cope with this. You are going to drive yourself insane trying to bend over backwards "winning" her back. Those of us on SBS can only help so much, you need professional counseling to help you understand what happened and help you move on. If you don't want to do it for you then do it for your children.

Sound advise, everyone.

Thanks.

It's been hard to make the transition from family man to seperated man to soon-to-be divorced man. At my age (48) all this turmoil is overwhelming. But like it was said in the movie "Shawshank Redemption," "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'."

I'd like to do the "livin'" part.

Knowing that I have backstage folks who genuinely care is definitely helpful. I wish I had a computer were I'm living so I could get on backstage more often. Doing it at work can be dangerous.

Sounds like you are doing a bit better. Definitely "Get busy livin'" lol. Maybe find some local support groups for divorced or soon to be divorced men.

Best Buy has some cheap but good laptops. Should check em out or even ebay. Having friends and things to keep you busy sure do help. There could even be some online forums for men going through divorce. I know without my Hodgkin's forum I would not have been able to get through the emotional stress of it all.
