They did shut them down, but they filed an application to get them back up it would appear.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but before I knew that this was an intentional shutdown, I called Sirius to report the outage (I've found sometimes providers of a service don't know that there is a problem because no one has reported it). The first person I spoke with didn't know what a repeater was and tried to tell me to adjust my fm transmitter channel, the second person was trying to be helpful and checked with his supervisor who reported the there were no problems anywhere in the system. Even though I have been subscribing for nearly two years, this was my first customer service experience. Now I know what everyone is always complaining about.

Sounds like they will have the repeaters back on line in the near future. Somewhat frustrating, but nothing we can do about it. I rely upon terrestrial signal in my office and have no way to get an antenna outside (also can't listen on line).

Yes the customer service really does stink as you've pointed out. Isn't it amazing that they don't even know what a repeater is? LOL

I really appreciate the manner in which you are demonstrating your frustration. I can certainly appreciate that you are because there isn't anything better for reception than a repeater. I am thinking they will get the emergency request granted fairly quickly, so perhaps you will be back in business by the first part of the week. We can certainly hope so

Thanks for the post...

Does anyone know when they'll be bringing the Harrisburg, PA repeater back online? I just spent $40 on a home kit last week so I could listen at work. It worked fine for a week (two bar signal due to the repeater). Now, it can't get a signal at all. So, it looks like I'm out $40 (kit) + $15 (web activation) + $20.97 (quarterly subscription).

I've been a subscriber since November 2004 (and a shareholder since before then), and this is the fourth receiver on my account. I'm trying to bite my tongue and not say it, but this really sucks. I'm really losing faith in Sirius between the problems I read about here, the customer service issues I've encountered throughout my time as a subscriber, and now this.

Let's hope they have some kind of resolution for this repeater problem soon.

This is sucking... but it will come back soon, right? When I got Sirius, I was sad to find I had an exclusively eastern view at work, but thrilled to find there was a 100% terrestrial signal hitting my antennae. I got jack sh** at the moment.

The Orlando repeater came back on today, so the others probably aren't to far away from being turned on.

That's good news. I'll be rolling into work tomorrow with the "Signal Indicator" on. Let's hope there's some terrestrial bars! :-)

I figured something like this happened. I'm in Knoxville and in the past couple days my signal has been dropping out under bridges and in parking garages where it never did before.

They better get this rectified soon. This is frustrating beyond belief.

Still no repeater service. This becoming increasingly frustrating. If this is an FCC certification issue, they are taking their own sweet time approving the reactivation. I'm surprised, given the broad range of people of this board, that no one has much information. Hopefully this will be resolved soon or I am going to have to buy a very long masonry drill bit (inner layer of concrete block and outer layer of brick) to get an antenna outside at my house. I'm totally out of luck in my office (can't stream on line and windows face the wrong direction). On the bright side, I do get one bar of signal in my office for about 15 minutes at 4:00 pm!

Yeah, still no repeater service here either. This is getting *beyond* frustrating.

And surprise, surprise, from Sirius customer service:

"At this time we are unaware of any problems with the repeater tower in your area."

Bump... it's been over two weeks now. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I even bother calling customer support? It gets such rave reviews here. I'd hate to cancel my subscription, but I can't use it at work and have better things to do than catch-up with Howard Stern in the evenings, really.

That's where I'm at right now. I had a nice round of e-mails with them on Friday and they asked for 3-5 business days for a response after I basically instructed them that they were wrong and need to go up the chain of command to give me a real answer (they kept giving me the same form letter BS response to call customer service).

I'll give them the time they ask for, but this is absurd. If I don't hear anything positive by then I'll be calling in regarding the cancellation of service. It's worthless to me the way it is right now.
