Post Internet Explorer 7 In Windows Updates

Internet Explorer just came up on my Windows Update and I didn't want to install it. So now it says my computer may be vulnerable to attackers if I don't install Internet Explorer 7. Is that true? Thank's.

Is it running windows?

Sorry I couldn't help myself....

I believe that it will only more exposed than other windows computers if you actually use IE. I don't believe that there are any security flaws that IE7 fixes other than those in earlier IE versions.

I downloaded IE 7 and within a few days there was a security update that I downloaded for it. Since it has been out for a little bit, the security update may be added to the initial IE7 upgrade.

I hear you! I made the jump to Firefox about a year ago. IE has gotten to be such a clumsy patchwork it's a wonder it works at all anymore.

The only reason I keep it anymore is for Win Update...

Internet Exploder vs. Firefox? No contest. You can download and install Firefox faster than Microshaft's attempt to catch up disguised as a web browser loads. Although I would imagine that IE may be what people who finally give up AOL may use.

Probably more like you and 52% of the planet. Although there are really never going to be accurate numbers, only estimates.

I like the new IE7. It runs alot faster. I have used Firefox and don't like it much.

Actually...the new IE7 isn't too bad. Yes, it is still clumsy and big, but it's a move in the right direction.
The reality is that MS has about 90% of the browser market. I do like Firefox. Firefox die hards will tell you that it has 25-50% of the market, but that's just not reality. 90% of computer users are too lazy or don't understand what they need to do to go out and get a new browser...and deal with all the helpers and add-ins you need. MS does not make it easy to upgrage to Firefox either, which adds to the problems.
Plus, most corporate users still prefer IE because of its "integration" with Windows. Some web sites I have visited really don't render or behave well with Firefox...perhaps those sites are "optimized" to run with IE....and since many of those sites are related to my business, I have to stick with IE.

You're not getting the IE7 install in windows updates, per se, but you're getting the new ie7 vulnerability patch.

Oh, and btw...the new firefox sucks. IE7 works MUCH better.

I was bored yesterday so I did a complete reformat on both of my computers, (3rd time in 2 weeks). IE7 was part of Microsoft Update this time around, WMP 11 was not though.
