Nintendo has always been geared toward a younger audience. This can be seen in their cartoony games. They are now trying to jump into the sector that MS and Sony gear their systems towards. I think this is a poor decision simply because they cannot compete with MS and Sony, they should stick with the younger audience since that market is all theirs.

Sony and MS both have comparable systems and even though theres a debate on which system is better the truth in sales can't lie. MS will lose to Sony yet again because Sony has a loyal fanbase and MS has a very hard time breaking ground in the lucrative Japanese market. The Japanese love their playstations which is why xbox didn't take over as the #1 console.

Prices are comparable between the 2 console makers. Up here a PS3 goes for $659.99 CDN. That includes a 60 GB HD and Blu-ray drive. the Xbox 360 is sold in a bundle with the cheapest one I could find being the Core in a bundle that includes the games Kameo and PGR3 for $399.99 CDN. You need to add an HD-DVD for $199.99 and a HD (which they only have 20GB) for $129.99 to have somewhat of a comparable system which brings the total up to $729.97. This system I priced out is more comparable to the lower end PS3 which retails for $549.99.

Don't be fooled by the price tag on the PS3 because if you want an xbox 360 thats comparable then you spend far more.

"Underpowered" as in "a less powerful" system than the PS3 or Xbox 360 - only 512 MB RAM, no hard drive, only 480 line progressive scan. They're going after the kids with the Wii.

Cool

their going after kids yes, but i think they are also going after parents and other adults. ms and ps3 are for the normal gamer but nintendo is trying to recreate the success of the ds with the wii, draw non gamers into its universe. i presonally hope it works, i'll be in line the min i get off work tom, at 5. but then again i have always been a nintindo fan, im just happy to see the gamecube era be over and a sweet new zelda game ready for the market.

I'm going to be buying all the PS2 games that will now be much cheaper for the next 12-18 months, until the Wii has a decent amount of games and is underr $200. Spending $600 + 60-70 per game on a first release Sony product is not a smart move.

Everyone seems to be hung up on the fact that the Sony has Blu-Ray in it. I don't understand that. If you don't have an HDTV, it doesn't matter anyway, and by the time most people will get an HDTV, the price for a Blu-Ray player will be well under a couple hundred bucks. Look at how quickly DVD players went from well over $500 to $150.

My brother decided not to camp out but stupidly go to 25 Best Buy/Circuit City/Walmart stores around here in the Philadelphia area at around 10am and see if any had in stock.

Am I the only one that thinks the controller for the Wii looks incredibly stupid? Um, that would get old in less than 10 seconds. The last thing I want to do is blow out a rotator cuff while playing Tiger Woods 07 on the Wii.

I just don't get it, I think it looks really dumb.

heres a question I asked everyone when discussing the Wii. Why would i want to swing a controller around when playing a golf game or tennis game, why not just go play the actual game if I'm doing the same actions?

Because it's actual exercise.

Exactly. Most American Kids are fat, soft and lazy. They won't be able to get past level one of Zelda without having a heart attack.

Also, could you imagine how embarrising it will be to have your friends walk in on you while "golfing" or playing tennis on the wii.

Keep in mind that there's a few people who are unhappy with people who are selling it just to make a profit. So most likely, they not going to pay for it. I think the numbers of $1200 to $5000 sounds about right.
