Default Real estate signs in my yard grrrrrrrrrrr

Damn real estate companies keep putting signs up in my yard! I live on a corner lot. Main street runs north and south in front of my house. On the north side of my lot there is a little street that runs west. On that side of my yard there is no sidewalk, although there is a couple power/phone poles near the street. Now real estate companies are putting signs in my yard at the corner there. I got home today and there is a HUGE ass sign. It must be 4 feet by 4 feet. Can I rip this out, or is it legal for them to put the sign there since it is public right of way, even though it's still my fucking yard. Anyone know?

If it is in YOUR yard I would. I would think that they need permission to do so.

Rip it down!!!

I would rip out those signs, it your own personal property. If they want to put a sign there, I would charge them! Also if you want to, I would probably call the company that keeps putting the sign on your yard and ask them, "Why do you keep putting signs on my yard?"

It's a big deal here during election time, some of the people running were putting their signs in peoples yards without permission. If they do it now, they get a fine. I would call the company and ask them to come and take it away, if they don't, just spary paint over it, something really bad about them.

if its in the public right of way call a bylaw officer. He'll give the offending party a fine for erecting a sign without a permit. Much more evil then just ripping it down.

Nail a piece of wood with "SOLD" across the front of the sign. Or change the arrow to go the other way. Or, if it is an expensive sign they use more than once, take it out, and charge an impound fee. Or if they are one of those realtors in a house style office, erect a 4' x 4' sign in their yard pointing to your house. Too many options here.

This is what I would opt to do.

Pull the sign and put a little note on one of your telephone pole notifying them of the $100 impound fee. I think that $25/weekend/sign is a more fair price ongoing though.

I ripped it out last night and laid it on the ground. They meant for that sign to stay since it was mounted on two 6 foot spaded fence posts. No one from the company noticed it today cause it's still laying there. If I see them come by and try to put it back up I will notify them that there will be a fee or they can take away the sign. If they put it up with out me seeing I will rip it out again and put a note on on it. A small sign would would be 25 dollars a week. A large sign like they put up would be 100 dollars a week. And no prorating either, one day or 7 days, the weekly fee applies. If not they can take their sign and shove it.

BTW, the name of the company is David Jent Realty. If you live in middle Tennessee don't deal with them.

That is an interesting legal question since technically about 3 feet of my "yard" isn't owned by me. I live on a corner as well and any way you put it, the property lines usually end way before the street or sidewalks. Having said that I feel it's my property just like you do. Spray paint ASSHOLE on it. I just did that on the pile of snow my neighbor felt was easy to shove onto my sidewalk with his new 4 wheeler and a snow blade. The 5 foot arrow on the street to his house also get the point
