Hope you move in this month, it's a cool feeling to start in a new house.

We are in Charleston, the problem is that the development started off in Charleston Country then while they were developing it the city annexed it. I also think that the "good ole boys" here probably don't like out of state developers as much as the locals.

This area is notorious for being hard to build in, I guess I should be glad since it helps property values.

TX, although i dont have a lot of experience with Charleston, the one time my company had to deal with them to get some permits, etc, it was a absolute nightmare. Most of the time the city/town office will work with you a little, but there was no cooperation.

That is typical here as well. With the massive growth of both the economy and population the government in general has become difficult to deal with and they have been taken to court. Which actually fuels the whole thing. We are also running into infrastructure problems. Many times people are moving into their house before all utilities are hooked up like cable or telephone. Not just hooked up, installed into the neighborhood. In one case it took 3 weeks to get an inspector out to my house. Then there was a tiny problem with the length of a pipe or the angle or something. Luckily for me, my builder was one of the "good ole boys". Born and raised a rancher turned business man. Cowboy boots and all. And he was chosen over others because he was a local boy and can make decisions without calling California. He let me make a minor change to the blue prints like moving a couple of doors when everyone else laughed at me. Good ol' boy government... bad. Good ol' boy developer... good.

My new project is a hot tub. Getting a good electrician is turning out to be a nightmare. I'll be eating ramen for weeks after laying out the dough for this tub.

I wanted to update everyone that we were able to close on the 26th as planned. I am so glad to be in.

One of the best decisions we made was to go with the home theater installed as well as speakers in the master bedroom, and on the screened in rear patio. They also put a hookup in my office so that my computer (MP3's and Sirius) can be played through the whole system. We have a 2 zone Receiver so that you can listen to different audio sources at the same time. We installed all of the audio in a large closet out of sight and I got a Harmony 890 Remote to control it all. It has IR and IF so it works even through walls, this thing rocks!

Sorry to hear about your loss. It will all work out in the end.

(BTW, didn't Michael Irvin just sell some appliances for some coke, and a lap dance?)

Good thing they broke in early, would hate for you to lose that fancy audio setup.

Congrats on the move-in, enjoy your new home.

I've got a Harmony 880 () and it's the best designed universal remote I've ever seen. At first I thought the buttons were a little dinky, but after using it for a year I can't part with it. It makes everything as simple as it ought to be.

Good Luck.
When I closed on my house in 1995, the builder started talking about delays. I wrote him a nice letter an itemized what the cost to me would be due his the delay and informed him that I was transferring the costs to him. He quickly got me in and I closed on time, 3 days before Christmas.
