They should build a giant laser on the moon to blow up the asteroid with. They could call it the Alan Parsons Project.

i suspect that the moon would be too close to us, for us to blow it up.

but using something like a laser, to deflect its path enough is probably the way we should go. but we would want to start deflecting it before it got too close. the closer it gets, the stronger the pull of gravity we have on it, and the less time we have to deflect it.

Maybe we should stop talking Science Fiction and start talking actual Science. I say millions of propulsion systems on the astroid steering itself away from Earth.

actually, deflection is what they think they will use - it is not science fiction.

i just wish they would take it more seriously, because it is something that we need to be able to do when we need it. not something to start or learn to perfect. we had better have had our methods already tested with other objects to see just what we can and cant do.

Is there any way we can send that douchebag Affleck NOW? Call it a scouting mission and launch his ass into orbit...

All restaurants will be Taco Bell.

More people will die after eating in a restaurant than are killed by the asteroid.

They'll still be debating Social Security and Health Care reform. People will be strongly encouraged to eat at Taco Bell and smoke heavily.

The minimum wage will have slipped back down, but lawmakers will be paid 300% more, plus stock options (Taco Bell, of course).

Me, I'm gonna get a lawn chair, a cooler full of beer, some good cigars, and my spiffy, new Sportster Replay X (with internal weaponry and looking a lot like Kristanna Loken) and drink, smoke and jam until it hits. I'll be next to a Taco Bell, so, either way, hit or miss, I'll be happy.

Is anybody else hungry?

3 minutes before the end of the world...

Society goes insane, breaking every law ever made.

2 minutes before the end of the world...

The World's shortest World War, World War III starts.

1 minute 30 seconds before the end of the world...

World War III ends.

45 seconds before the end of the world...

Smart people are blasted to Mars and Celebrities to the Sun

4 seconds before the end of the world...

The asteroid is destroyed, averting ANY disaster.
