Clayton is holding on to that video thing like a dog with a bone. I am not sure they can add more streams with the current codec and bandwidth, but perhaps there is a kicking codec that is going to allow them to add some streams and provide great sound to boot. We can hope for sure. If not then I think we will see some streams deleted and replacements added.

OEM right now needs to be a big portion of their push. Even if they are just doing dealer installs, this needs to really be pushing in every way possible. Not to mention getting the product on the shelves in retail outlets along with doing some promoting and advertising to get subscribers in the stores buying it.

I just feel we are going to finally see the dog get some traction this quarter and then really kicking it up next year in a big way.

DirecTV owns the biggest chunk of XM. I really doubt they will be helping Sirius with video (unless of course because they know it will help confuse Clayton and keep his eyes ''off the ball'').

He mentioned Charlie Ergen was a good friend of his, who is the CEO of Dish Network. It sounds like he's been tapping Charlie for some advice since Charlie got his start 3 years behind DirecTV and has done very well even with a later start.

Charlie makes more sense than DirecTV. He is in a blood feud with Rupert Murdoch and may very well want a piece of Sirius, since Rupert is buying a big chunk of XM.

Clayton better watch his step, as Charlie has no patience for ineffective weight at the top.

I'm sorry, I must have though directTV instead of dish network. I knew it was one of the two.

I'm pretty excited for the year ahead, It's all going to start with CES.

Ok, help me then to understand how all these statements are true. If video if "definitely" in research then Jeff, are you saying you know for a fact that they do not test via the live system?

by video being in the research stages, I didnt say anything about JC saying they were actually testing it. That was not said at the shareholders meeting. Video was mentioned as well as technology of streaming data such as stock quotes, etc.

How they implement this and the infrastructure to support it was not mentioned. He didnt give a timeline for when this would be done either, so for all we know they might cancel it altogether if it's not feasible. We basically have no clue what will happen with the video.

No, it was not your imagination, the story I've seen says "a generation". Throw Moore's Law at it and you get 18 months(?) ...probably has more to do with size and power requirements than anything else. Which means you'll see more mobile unit offerings for XM than Sirius in the 2004 season.

Here's the quote from Radio & Records:

Sirius Stockholders Unhappy With Company's Course

Investors took President/CEO Joe Clayton to task at the company's annual shareholders meeting yesterday, with several attendees asking about what steps Sirius is taking to catch up with market leader XM Satellite Radio. Stockholders also expressed frustration about Sirius' slow progress in getting receivers on the market. Reuters reports that Sirius investors also griped about the price levels of Sirius stock, which has been trading at or below the $2 per share mark since the summer and has rebounded from trading below $1 earlier this year. While Clayton acknowledged that Sirius' receivers are about a generation behind XM's, he noted that Sirius' first boombox will be shipped in time for the holiday shopping season and argued that his company has worked hard to get receivers to retailers. "There will be plenty of goods to sell for the Christmas selling season," he said. Clayton also reiterated that Sirius is on track to reach 200,000 subscribers by year's end. Sirius reduced its year-end forecast from 300,000 to 200,000 during its Q3 earnings conference call, but the company expects sales to quicken and hopes to exceed the 200,000 mark by the end of next month.
