Default SIRIUS is more profitable!

Loot at this link no wonder why retailers push SIRIUS sales over XM. This is great.

http://www.skyretailer.com/viewskyre...?ReleaseID=423

Sky Poll:
Retailers: Which service is more profitable?
DirecTV 21%
DISH Network 15%
VOOM 4%
XM Radio 4%
Sirius 51%
DirecWAY 1%

I didn't think either XM or Sirius was making any profits yet? So what does this really mean?

This may be pretty obvious, but I think they are talking about the retailers like Best Buy, etc. Rating which service is more profitable for them to sell. This incents them to sell Sirius.

I wonder if this includes the installation sales profit margin?

I think he's talking about the retailers who sell Sirius and XM equipment. But first this is only a poll, which means it basicly means nothing. Who knows who is really 'voting'. And 2nd we have read on this forum many times that retailers push XM more than Sirius....

At work yesterday I had to go to a different area, which meant I had to listen to FM. I hope the day is at hand that neither service has to be 'pushed' and both services will become so popular that they will kill FM.. Commercial after commercial, the same stale Rush and Billy Joel songs over and over. God it was aweful..

There might be something to this. The other fan site has started advertising by placing google links at the top of the home page. A majority of the links presented are offering Sirius.

This poll is meaningless. While it asks "RETAILERS" to answer, I voted for Sirius and I don't think I am a retailer.

Perhaps they are asking retailers which company makes YOU more money. I don't think this can be answered by a poll like this.

Exactly, and I'm sure is you go back to this site you can probably vote for Sirius another 10 times.. I'm sure there are some hidden incentives we don't know about, but since both companies prices are similar, and the equipment is similar, and he installed are exactly the same I doubt if there's any real difference in the retailers profits.

Well from a stand point of dollars a retail store selling both the choice is pretty easy. Case in point, currently for a customer to get a complete XM/ Delphi unit installed in there car and a homekit the average cost would be around 289.99 ( unit 99.99, CK 69.99, HK 69.99 plus most cars need a modulator 49.99). You can present the Sirius PNP2 for 149.99 after rebates for the same setup but without having to wire a modulator. That leaves about 140.00 difference to left to push a warranty or install ect. Which as we all know is where the retailers make the real $. For the difference you could get a 3 or 5 year extended service plan and installation. Or could pay for 13 months of programming.

Well thats one way to look at it,I think you're wrong but to each his own..

I personally think rebates are a crap shoot. So no way am I basing my choice to get a service(extended warrenty) or not on rebate money I may or may not get in 3-4 months...
