Default Delphi Satellite Radios to be Outfitted in Penske trucks

LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Corp. (NYSE: DPH) announced today at the Mid-America Trucking Show that its SIRIUS Satellite Radios (Nasdaq: SIRI) will begin to accompany drivers of Penske Truck Leasing's Fleet over the long miles of travel on the road. Delphi Electronics & Safety's SIRIUS Satellite equipped radios enable subscribers to listen to news, talk, weather, entertainment and sports. Penske Truck Leasing will outfit some of its class 8 trucks with Delphi's satellite radio and antennas to receive SIRIUS reception through a deal with its distributor -- Pana- Pacific.

"We are very pleased that Penske Truck Leasing chose to add our hardware to a portion of its truck fleet," said Jeff Owens, president of Delphi Electronics & Safety. "It is exciting to be selected by a first class organization like Penske, and we believe that Delphi SIRIUS satellite radio will add value to Penske's fleet."

Delphi manufactures a complete line of receivers and antennas capable of receiving more than 100 channels of satellite-broadcast audio entertainment. The user accesses satellite radio using the radio buttons that are simple and easy to use like traditional AM/FM band radios. The radios supplied to Penske Truck Leasing include radios with base CD or cassette with J1850 data bus. The alphanumeric or LCD (liquid crystal display) provides additional information including the channel, type of music and song and artist name.

"Satellite radio is extremely popular for over-the-road travelers and especially professional truck drivers," said Owens. "The variety of programming and coast-to-coast connection provided by satellite radio adds a great deal of value for over-the-road travelers. Our feedback shows that satellite radio is helping to make the long hauls shorter for thousands of truckers."

Satellite radio is closing in on more than 2 million subscribers and is one of the fastest growing technologies. Delphi is a leading provider in the OEM and aftermarket in providing satellite radio hardware. Building audio systems since 1936, Delphi has established itself as a leader in the development of audio systems for light- and heavy-duty commercial markets. The company has produced more than 255 million audio units and pioneered most every new innovation in mobile audio history.

Pana-Pacific is a unit of The Brix Group headquartered in Fresno, Calif. Penske Truck Leasing, headquartered in Reading, Pa., is a joint venture of Penske Corporation and General Electric. I thought Delphi only made XM receivers. The article says

Quote:
Penske Truck Leasing will outfit some of its class 8 trucks with Delphi's satellite radio and antennas to receive SIRIUS reception through a deal with its distributor -- Pana- Pacific.
Then it says later that Pana-Pacific is a unit of The Brix Group, so maybe the Streamer is involved? But how does that relate to Delphi?

The article also says

Quote:
Satellite radio is closing in on more than 2 million subscribers and is one of the fastest growing technologies. Delphi is a leading provider in the OEM and aftermarket in providing satellite radio hardware.
Could this article be suffering from some confusion between SIRIUS and XM? Or am I the one who's confused?

Delphi has made Sirius radios for quite some time. I believe they make the radios that go in Chrysler cars. So I don't think it's a mistake of any kind, and I doubt it's the streamer.

Okay, I got it. I guess I had only seen the SkyFi and the Roady from their consumer electronics division.

I found these:
