Default Worldspace Sat Rad arrives today - sat radio for the world!

Worldspace IPO is today - http://www.worldspace.com/

XM has a stake in them now, I believe 250mil worth... I think this should be good for the industry, synergies of technology and higher product numbers should bring prices even lower on radios (or better margins for XM and Worldspace)...and bring more awareness to satrad.

Should we add their ticker to this forum? ( ticker: WRSP )

It's all good but WorldSpace is owned by 2 Saudi guys who helped fund 9/11. I would not support that. I hope it tanks!!!

They've been accused of that, but I wasn't aware that it was proven.

What is your source?

Yeah there have been several reports of this, not sure its all true, but any anti American influence is not appreciated here in the least. If this is true I will cancel my subscription to XM, I hope it is just unfounded rumors.

In my brief reading I thought it was Indian owned - even if there are some Saudi investors, I find it hard to imagine that anyone associated with Muslim extremists would want to promote the type of news and music that Worldspace provides (may be Arafat had some money in it though! - seems he had some diverse investments! ).

Why? No one is suggesting that XM gave money to terrorists...or even that Worldspace gives money to terrorists.

There have indeed been articles that claim WorldSpace is associated with terrorists because a rich person accused of giving money to terrorists helped WorldSpace get out of debt (I can't remember all of the details from the article). But to say XM is associated with Terrorists is just plain rediculous (they have a $25M stake in the company btw).

Anyways, I doubt I'll be buying this stock as its debt makes Sirius look like Microsoft. Also, I have doubts about how big the market is in some of the countries it is available. Then again, I have not done much research.

My info comes from Smartmoney.com, I'm not suggesting that Xm funded 9/11 but future attacks could be funded by Xms 15-20 million investment of worldspaces IPO.....

Read and make your own decisions:
h**p://yahoo.smartmoney.com/Techsmart/index.cfm?story=20050803&afl=yahoo

replace the ** with tt

How? Investors don't have access to capital that other investors provide...

If its found that Worldspace has people who own or run it that give money to terrorists, and XM wants to join ranks with them, you can't see why this would be of concern? As a subscriber to XM I can send no clearer message that I disapprove of this business realtionship than by canceling my service, IF Worldspace is involved in some way, they need to cut ties with any persons or groups of people or business who aid in terrorism. If you cant see that, I am sorry.

As I said before, no one has suggested that Worldspace as an organization has given money to terrorists. All that's been alleged is that several people who have invested money in Worldspace might have also given money to terrorists.

If a bunch of terrorists invest money in Coca Cola, does that mean we should all be drinking Pepsi?

Or, more to the point, if a bunch of terrorists invest money in Coca Cola and Apple has also invested in Coca Cola, should we throw away our iPods?

I think your missing the point. I and I am sure many American citizens would not agree to invest in a company that may fund and support terrorrism, I know I feel like I can't and won't do business with a company that indirectly gives money to terrorists. I cancelled my XM subscription because of it.

I agree completely.

I just don't see how you can say that XM funds and supports terrorism. All they did was invest in a company that also has been invested in by people who may support terrorism.

XM doesn't support terrorism. Worldspace doesn't support terrorism.

Isn't that jumping the gun a bit? At least you should wait until the allegations against the Saudi investors are proven true or false.

Probably was lol. But I was gonna cancel it in September anyways. Plus, one of my college buddy's was killed over in Iraq and my other friends uncle died in the World Trade Centers on 9/11 so I'm passionate about not
having any ties to terrorists.
