As mentioned previously I think iPod and Sat Radio are a nice accompaniment for each other. I also think iPod is a bigger threat to CD sales than it is to anything having to do with satellite radio. Now if you have Satellite radio (I don't care which company does it) ON an iPod, then we have something there.

You see these posts that call for eliminating the DJs on Sirius and XM. Well, if you don't like the DJs on either service, chances are better than average you didn't like the DJs on FM or AM and radio of any kind is not going to do it for you. That's where the iPod comes in.

Plus another thing about the iPod is I now have my entire CD collection, on my 20 GB (almost full, time for a new one). Plus iTunes has exclusive stuff.

If your only source of music is the Ipod -- how do you hear new music? Where do you go to find the latest from your favorite artists? Where do you go to listen to new artists? Who spends hours programming your ipod for you? How much to you spend each month downloading new songs?

If you're not using an Ipod but have a subscription-compatible mp3 player, Yahoo Music Unlimited is a pretty good deal for $5 per month (with a 1 year subscription). they have a "new releases" section that you can use to try out new artists, and yu can transfer as many songs to your mp3 player as you want for the $5 per month fee. It can still take some time to download songs, but I usually pick my songs during the evening and have them download overnight, so it's not too inconvenient. Playlist creation can also take some time, but I'm happy enough with putting my 5000 songs on my mp3 player on shuffle. I think of it as my own version of the upcoming Sirius Shuffle channel

Satellite radio is still a more convenient option for radio listening, but for people who really want to hear the songs they want, the Ipod (or other mp3 players) offer a very compelling alternative.
