Default Chrysler stepping up

Was watching the tube tonight and Chrysler was advertising their "signature series" of vehicles. What was interesting was that they are advertising the fact that they are including Sirius. Very cool to see.

I agree, many of the upper level trims come with Sirius as std equipment. Plus with Chrysler you get one year of service included and Sirius will apply that 1st year of service to the $499 making Lifetime only $345 if you call right away.

Default Charger Commericals

One of the Dodge Charger commercials shows the Sirius logo a couple of times. It’s the auction commercial if anyone has seen it. Sirius shows up nicely beside the Auctioneers head.

"Chrysler stepping up"

About time. Both Chrysler and Ford have been dragging their feet, IMO.

With XM's main radio supplier (Delphi) bankrupt, and XM backer GM on the verge of bankruptcy--Sirius can probably make major gains in OEM installs if their auto partners will get it in gear.

I've seen that one. Very nice. It's great to see Sirius on a commercial.

Delphi problems are not good for Sirius either. I believe Delphi makes most of the Sirius OEMs for Ford and possibly Chrysler.

Got some documentation on that?

Sirius is not nearly as dependent on Delphi as XM. Delphi is easily XM's largest receiver supplier, not so with Sirius.

What may turn out to be a significant blow to XM, is only going to be a minor irritation for Sirius.

But if they don't get things turned around within a certain amount of time, they go belly up. So in many cases, the inevitable is only delayed a bit.

A few news bites that show Delphi and Sirius are doing business together, though not nearly as much as GM and Delphi or XM and Delphi..

The one bite thats interesting is that Delphi is making Sirius's video receivers.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Corp. (NYSE: DPH) is
demonstrating streaming video this week at the 2004 International Consumer
Electronics Show (Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall, Booths #5206 and
#5213). Using a SIRIUS Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI) stream, Delphi is
showing convention goers and media the future of receiving video in a popular
full-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) demonstration.

and

Ford will work with consumer electronics maker Delphi to supply Sirius satellite radio receivers for four 2006 models, the companies announced Wednesday at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Ford's decision to have Sirius radio as a factory-installed option in the Ford F-150, Ford Explorer, Lincoln Mark LT and Mercury Mountaineer models is part of an ambitious scheme. The Detroit-based carmaker said last week that it intends to sign up at least 1 million subscribers to Sirius radio.

The Michigan-based Delphi already supplies AM/FM/CD playback head units to Ford.

and

Penske Trucks Will Have Delphi/Sirius Radio
Delphi Corp. recently announced that its Sirius satellite radios will be installed on Penske Truck Leasing's fleet.
Delphi Electronics & Safety's Sirius satellite-equipped radios enable subscribers to listen to news, talk, weather, entertainment and sports. Penske Truck Leasing will outfit some of its Class 8 trucks with Delphi's satellite radio and antennas to receive Sirius reception through a deal with its distributor, Pana-Pacific.
Delphi manufactures a complete line of receivers and antennas capable of receiving satellite-broadcast audio entertainment.
The radios supplied to Penske Truck Leasing include radios with base CD or cassette with J1850 data bus. The alphanumeric or LCD provides additional information including the channel, type of music and song and artist name.

Here is one I found on the Delphi site.

Nobody is disputing that Sirius has done business with Delphi.

Your statement is virtually the same thing I've been saying.

This will merely be a bump in the road for Sirius, whereas it's definitely a nasty wreck for XM.

No it's not...As popular as sat radio is,and is becoming there will be plenty of manufacturers willing to jump in bed with XM...
