Post Bridge 11/22 Sirius still out front.

I think we all have doubts about Bridge's longer term projections. What is valid about their services is the polling as it's large and national.

http://www.bridgeratings.com/

I'd invite other Sirius Fans to visit this site. I think there are many thinks interesting as the year's data ends.

18-21 year olds prefer Sirius 60% to 40%.
Sirius has held the retail sector at near 60% all year.
Sirius's preference numbers continue to beat the competition.
Sirius's Sports numbers have moved up considerable in the last month.

Bridge has Sirius doing 6.1 for the year. It is interesting to note that their numbers ( to the best of my knowledge and their communications ) do not include internet subs as their polling is strictly retail.

I think Mel has 6.3 nailed against all odds.

Although they don't admit it anyway, they WERE predicting only 5.9 million for Sirius has recently as two weeks ago. Last year Bridge understated Sirius subs significantly. The fact that they moved their prediction to 6.1 million (without mentioning the increase) makes me believe Mel has a shot at 6.3. I really don't know how they are going to do it, but they are certainly advertising like crazy. I see commercials for Sirius all over TV, but not much for XM...

Bridge is full of sh*t, although these numbers look right I suppose. It will take some sort of Christmas miracle to push Sirius to the 6.3 million mark.

I don't see it happening and all the ads they are running are going to increase costs significantly. Not looking good.

I think sirius can make the 6.3 million mark but its going to come with a huge price tag attached.

Agree -- but is it the right thing to do?

xmsr did it last yr and was punished for it -- but even last yr xmsr wasnt spending as much as siri is now (the adverts. siri is buying right now are not cheapos and siri receivers still costs siri more than xmsr has to pay). still if you will spend enough the 6.3 can probable be hit.l

which is a better approach? relentless spending to hit targets or spending within limits to achieve easier to hit targets? i guess there are two sides but i do like what xmsr is doing better for the time being.

Post Advertising Budget

I do believe that Sirius has had this money in the advertising budget which they've been saving all year to spend for the fourth quarter push. If they are going over that budget it would be bad. Otherwise it's part of the business plan. With this much doubt with that plan. If Mel can reach cash flow break even and 6.3 million subs by end of year, there will be a huge confidence boost in satelite radio industry.

Now you're talking. I was just wondering why no one had posted this before now. I was going to do it but I have gotten so I don't even get involved in this crap much anymore. Like beating a dead horse.

I just mostly read these outlandish posts and sit back and wait till Mel and Sirius throws the crap back in their doubting faces, quarter after quarter, and then they finally stop or they leave this forum after about 150-200 posts or so and change their name and come back as someone else and they start spewing it all over again! lol

But, yes, Mel is like a predator at times. He spends just enough here and there all year and holds back until the 4th quarter and then he pounces on the media airwaves like a mad dog and spends to get that ever so popular brand awareness out there even more, and make those numbers too. And the pounding just keeps on going as SIRIUS takes quarter after quarter after quarter.

Don't worry your heads XMers, if you haven't learned by now that this Mel K. guy knows what the hell he's doing, then you never will.

most of the commercials ive seen here in NY involve chrysler and not sirius directly--Why they dont push the Stiletto in a sirius commercial, i have no idea--Are they advertising huge down south for Nascar yet on tv??
Ive seen NO Howard promotion either in commercials or by howard himself doing the media circuit--that would be free press
