ps249 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default year in review

Most of the new sirius subscribers are coming up on their one year anniversary. I wonder how many will renew? It was a fad at first for me. I spent $365 for my first year (radio plus 1 year subscription). I may renew for 1 more year.I think the music and Howard Stern are the only selling points for Sirius. My local radio stations play the NOW music and music from the 60's and 70's...Nothing from the 80's and 90's.I guess the baby boomers still control terristrial radio. At least with satellite- I get 3 80's channels and a 90's channel. My major complaint with satellite radio: reception fades in and out. Not a good selling point.
I don't think the sports channels are a selling point because of all the coverage on terrestrial radio and television. Same with the news channels.
The comedy channels are a plus.

Default Year

I've had Siriius Sat/Rad since it came out and wouldn't think of cancelling unless it went up to $18 pr mo. When there's nothing good on TV, there's always something good on Siri.

I'm retired now and this week I've been driving my mom to all the stores for her Christmas shopping. I just wait in the parking lot with a good book and listen to Siri.

The sports are a big draw. There are millions of football fans all over the country on Sundays that have their boom boxes out listening to games as they tailgate. I drove from Ohio to my home on the East Coast in Nov and listened to my Ravens. Only on Siri.

Sirius NFL Radio has the best talk shows in the business with the afternoon blitz and news from the 2-minute drill. I got more news about the Ravens from there than the local channels and new we'd get McNair. Pat Kirwan said McNair would put us in the hunt for the Wild Card and he has us 1 game from clinching the AFC-N.

Millions of scubrcibers have come since Stern's arrival and they won't drop. Millions of NASCAR fans have told GM they're switching to Siri when NASCAR arrives. It won't be long before GM offers both XM and Siri.

I've also had stock in Siri for 4 years and despite it's fall I'm still 90% ahead.
When everyone sold at $9 I held. Then it dropped to $7 and more sold. I held. Then it dropped to below $3 and I bought more. I always held on the high and bought on the dip. That's how Buffet made his.

Ten years, probably sooner, from now Siri will be on every new car on the road after GM offers it.

And I'll be even richer.

Ridiculous - if millions were switching to siri when NASCAR arrived, siri wouldnt have just reduced its guidance by 400k subs.

Note to DAB - do you think the remark above reflects a bit of 'blindness' ? ?

I think that is one persons opinion and I don't think it is your job to decide who is blind and who isn't. Can't everyone just have an opinion without you having to come in and lay down your XM bias on every subject? This is exactly what I am talking about. You act as if you are on some sort of glorified mission to point out blindness and point out where SIRIUS is weak and XM is strong. Then you wonder why you get the sort of reactions you do from SIRIUS fans on a SIRIUS forum? Well DUH!

Now if your question would be do I believe millions are switching to SIRIUS because NASCAR is moving, the answer is NO I do not. So would a better response be, you know I appreciate your opinion, but I disagree. I am sure some will switch, some may just now have both and others will just not worry about it.

Default 2 years

I have been a subscriber to Sirius for over 2 years..

My brother had XM and I tried on-line trials of both...

I chose Sirius for the music.. At the time xm had Liquid metal ( later to be discontinuied and brought back)...In a word ..it's terrible. Even my bro who is a metal fan hates it very much ...in fact he doesnt like Xm's music programming at all and just keeps it for sports radio and High Voltage.

Getting back to Sirius..hard Attack sucked me right in..excellent metal station and as long as it's around I'll keep my sirius subs...Also the Stern show has been highly entertaining all year, and Ferral is a decent listen. I also dig first wave, left of Center, and Buzzsaw, Planet Jazz, Undergoround Garage and Chill..

I could never go back to terrestrial radio..If I didnt have Sirius I would just load up my mp3 player and get an aux input for my car..

Those are big selling points - like six dozen of them.

And 20 minutes per hour of commercials.

No, FM "fades in and out" and is filled with static, bleeding, and all sorts of problems. Satellite may drop for a second or two, but it's far better than continuously poor reception for hours on end when you're just beyond the range of an FM signal...or near a high-voltage line...or in an area with two strong signals that are too close together...or complete loss of reception if you drive 30 minutes to the mall and out of range altogether.
