To your point that there is "no chance the bailout terms" could be met. How would anyone know this when we don't know what the terms are ?
I can't speak for you but I _DO_ know what the terms are and no, I won't post them here.

While you dismiss the market share gains of Sirius, fact is Sirius will have between 43-44% share by the end of this year. If you think this isn't substantial, I don't know what breathing down the neck of 50% would be.
It is beside the point as ive tried to explain to you. even if the contract terms would permit it there is no way gm is going to give up its contract with xmsr voluntarily to give siri a piece. it is too lucrative amd it is just too difficult to split the baby.

For all we know the number was 40% and exceeded months ago ?
The 'number' is publicly available for those who want to dig.

Lastly, the split is 58% / 42 % .... not 60/40. A few % points makes a BIG difference as XM will soon find out.
we can argue about it from now on it depends on how 'the number' is computed however it is sufficient to say that xmsr has the lions share of the oem deals and the oems that are with xmsr are the ones that are growing with except. gm and the ones that are with siri are not growing.

What information are you using to suggest XM pays GM even $75 per installation? Just like Neuro, you admit your figures are totally contrived. XM's agreement with GM is based on revenue sharing, not installation fees. XM appeared to be paying a subsidy on radios using the 2g chipset. With GM finally transistioning to the 3g chipset, that subsidy is now zero or some tiny component of SAC. The switch to the newer chipset appears to coincide with GM's price drop for the XM option.

Possibly I previously missed it, but I've never heard anyone at Sirius provide any sort of details about their OEM component of SAC. The almost $150 installation charge was new for me. Great for Chysler who then adds the Sirius option to the sticker price and retains those proceeds. Per the Frear comment, Sirius nets something like $7 from this deal. And that's supposed to cover the costs of providing 12 months of service?

On your 3 additional years example, that $317 profit is the result of providing 4 years of service, or only $6.60/mo.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I Siriously ( I did it ..the lowest-cheapest form of Journalism ) doubt if you know the number which is not in the public domain. This is in contract language which is protected by both GM and XMSR.

I'd call you on this on FR in a heartbeat. I think your shitting royally.
Do you work for Georgie Bush by chance, because he knew where the WMD's were also.

i didn't state them as fact. i used the figures as an example of what future revenues and profits could be for sirius and xm(on a single oem sub) and very few people factor that in. just like myself, ive been a subscriber 4 over 3 years and i'll probably subscribe 2 sirius for many many years to come.

On the other hand, Frear stated yesterday they are paying Chysler about $150 per installation. Mel has been suggesting their OEM conversion rate is similar to XM's. So half of Sirius' OEM radios "may never be used".
I used 100 bucks as a round number and even stated I didn't know the number. I'm not trying to deceive anyone. Hell, say 50 bucks a radio for all I care at a 75 million dollar loss. I also didn't state that Sirius has a similar problem, but since XM has such "vastly" larger OEM numbers (according to the legions), they stand to take a larger hit from the horrible take rate.

Actually, I would have to disagree with you on this, Wb.

I agree with Satradioman's assertion that it is subjective which service is superior.

As long as both remain fiancially viable, who cares? It's nice to have a choice. I was previously an XM subscriber. It was nice to have an alternative. If Sirius jacks up their rates, I might very well go back to XM. It's nice to have a bargaining chip.

Still vindictive, Wb? Well, who needs social skills when there's WoW?

It is publicly available but you have to know where to look and you wont find it sec filings.

I thought about posting it here in this reply but my interest in not posting it is that it is just one more rumor (like merger nonsense) waiting to happen. the gm contract is not going to be canceled under any conditions because xmsr is paying them too much...

Whiskerbiscuit, kill the name calling! We aren't going to have it, no matter how passionate you are about the topic.

FlagRiot may not agree with many folks on this forum, but he is civil and doesn't get into the name calling stuff. If you can't do that then I must ask that you exit the forum.

Thanks...
