You still don't get it. The FCC and SEC would not allow a merger between the only two satellite radio companies if there are no other companies that offer satellite radio because it would be seen as a monopoly of satellite radio. A monopoly of one product does not create competition and fairness between business interests and the public.

Monopoly does not apply in the case of satellite radio. There are other satrad companys already operating, and there is nothing prohibiting other players from entering the field.

The FCC, but its very nature is a Commision of people. Those people are political appointees. Goodness, the FCC is political. Read this, and I hope you'll understand that idealistic thoughts don't equate to reality:

http://web.si.umich.edu/tprc/papers/...6.3.submit.pdf

If you still believe the FCC is non-political, then I suggest you research that some more. Did you know the Congress can over-rule and FCC action and/or tell the FCC what to do? There are thousands of cases where that has occured. Is the US Congress non-political too?

I guess if you come out of this still thinking that the FCC is non-political, then we'll just agree to disagree.
