The reason people don't like you here is because you are stating bullshit "facts". Fact is, Sirius does NOT have to buy a new satellite every year, like they did this year. Fact is, many parts of Howard's contract are very public, especially that which has included the stock payments. That stock "bonus" he got wasn't a bonus at all, it was an accelerated payment and part of the $500 million over 5 years. Beyond that, Sirius stated in the 1Q conference call that they were intentionally paying off a large chunk of Stern's contract this year because they just wanted to take one big hit initially. Go read some articles about satellite radio if you want to sit here and spew your XM-biased opinions.
You were wrong about the satellite. Sirius didn't pay for a satellite.

You were wrong about Stern. The total is now at $700 Million after one year at Sirius, with 4 years to go.

Yes, you guys called FlagRiot an idiot, but it seems he is one of a very few around here that knew WTF he was talking about.

Wish he would come back. LOL.
And did you see this little gem from above:

According to Mel (about this bonus):

"Sirius said the bonus to Stern would not increase its diluted share count and that expenses related to the payment have been reflected in operating results throughout 2006."

Sirius has been paying Howard's contract as well as for new satellite all year. It's all part of this year's operating costs, not some additional cost that just popped up.

Looks like Howie is registering with the SEC to sell all of the bonus.

He'll sell enough to pay capital gains taxes, just like he did back in January.

These threads just keep reminding me why I don't own Sirius. I just dropped some major smack on something else.

Just remember XM offered far less ($30MM if I can remember) than the $100MM a year to begin with.

Not even taking into account these lucrative softball type numbers for the fat bonuses can any of you really defend this?

When you have two competitors in a market space and one overbids by so much + adds stock over the high salary it is hard to defend.
CorporateSlave, are you a siri stock holder?

He's just like FlagRiot... all opinion, little fact. Anyone that's dealt with a large stock payment will sell off enough to pay capital gains immediately. The other option is to hold stock and pay out of pocket immediately... notice what time of year it is?

How am I batting .000?

Him selling to pay Income Tax is laughable... it is just speculation. Unless you talk to Howard or his accountants. $80 million is a bit much to pay taxes.

I thought it funny that no one on this board posted this important news story this morning so I thought I would take the honors.

BTW it is dilution and cost... money and shares do not materialize out of nowhere.

Howard realizes that the stock is at a good selling point... a crazy market cap. At this point he will take his $80+ Million... he I am sure like all of us is jaded at the hyper growth that both companies have priced in.

I am looking at the total picture and wonderif Sirius gaining a total 1.1 Million Subs more than XM with paying out $183 Million was worth it... kind of like my friend wanting to race me in a Neon SRT-4 and I go out and buy an Enzo.

Sure I can will but at what cost?

I was in 2004 for a short time.

I have owned XMSR from January 2003 - August 2006. I sold 25% at $35 and watched the thing sail down to $14 and some change before I realized that the model is broken at the insane valuation levels.

Yep. I just read that Stern doesn't have to pay these taxes. Only other people. I hear he's going to spend the money on crack and hookers.

Do you even listen to the man or you just like to show the world just how brilliant you are in terms of basic knowledge of nothing.

Good luck with XM and the brilliant talent of O&A and Oprah. Money well spent and justified cause their subscriptions have slowed down to the point of laughable.

It's funny dealing with people that are up to a 2nd grade understanding of how things work.

Oprah and O&A have done NOTHING for XM in terms of sales yet they are still being paid for....?

Enough with the personal attacks...

I was just asking before if the "slaughter" of XM talk rampant on this board is dulled by this $83 Million hit.

I am just saying thank god Mel didnt affix real numbers to this bonus like CPGA, SAC or ARPU. Yes here we are all about raw subscriber counts at any cost... isnt this what grows the business and creates shareholder wealth.

Any other shareholders concerned with this?

The price tag for Howard has just increased as the Sat Rad market continues to soften.

You must be a FOX listener. Just make it up as you go along. This thread would have been done a long time ago but you keep on sticking a line of BS into your posts and it's truly sad.

There would be no need for something that appeared as a personal attack if you stopped with the shenanigans. How do you get that the sat radio market is softening when they JUST POSTED RECORD GROWTH????

Do you read???? Other news sources have already pointed out that he sold in Jan to cover his taxes and he's probably going to do it again. If you have an agenda, admit it, if you don't want to admit it, get used to personal attacks.

Q4 YOY was down 240K subs for Siri, 400K subs for XM.

Down 640K for the Sat Rad Market... I would call that softening.

From the current S-3 and last years the following can be deduced:

This year Sirius didn't release the percentages between Howard and his agent, but an analysis of the numbers reveals that Buchwald got 9.1% or 2,005,348 shares.

Which means Howard got 20,053,476 shares.

His total available shares to sell is now, 34,178,476. So of the 31,250,000 he got last year he has sold to date:

17,135,000

Buchwald has sold none. He still has available the 3.125M from last year and what he got today for his total of 5,130,348.
