Post WTD 2008 Week 3 - 32 Grateful Dead Channel

On The Grateful Dead Channel, exclusively on SIRIUS, you'll hear music spanning the band's career with unreleased concert recordings, original shows hosted by band members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann, and even rare archival interviews with Jerry Garcia! The channel will also feature contributions from Grateful Dead expert David Gans and Dead archivist David Lemieux.

**JERRY GARCIA WEEK ON THE GRATEFUL DEAD CHANNEL
For nine days—from the anniversary of Jerry Garcia's birth on August 1 to the anniversary of his passing on August 9—The Grateful Dead Channel will celebrate the life and legacy of Jerry Garcia with music, interviews, talk shows and concerts. Jerry Week will feature daily concerts performed historically on that date in Grateful Dead history. The Grateful Dead Channel will feature "Jerry Memories" from prominent artists in the Grateful Dead family, as well as opening up the phone lines for listeners to contribute their memories of Jerry Garcia. Garcia's once-wife and longtime companion, Carolyn "Mountain Girl" Garcia, will also take part in Jerry Week, with two hours of programming centering on Jerry Garcia. Plus, The Grateful Dead Channel’s weekly interactive talk show, Tales From The Golden Road, will also focus on Jerry Garcia on the August 3 installment of the show.

I've really been trying to listen to these songs for the past hour, but they all sound the same...

I just got a phone call. I'll get back to the song later...

Ok, I've listened most of this evening. It's average at best for me. Not really my kinda music, but it's good. Very artistic.

I guess if I grew up in the '70s and smoked a lot of pot, this stuff would be right up my alley...

I certainly am not a Deadhead, by no means. However, I don't mind listening to the odd Grateful Dead song when played on Jam_On. However, too much Grateful Dead is not what i enjoy. Don't like the single artist channel format at all, and I don't listen to this one. I listened for a couple of blocks of time over the past little while and won't be back. I will get my Grateful Dead fix on Jam_On.

This was my first week listening to the Grateful Dead Channel. I have never been their biggest fan, but I always did like the usual 5 or 6 songs that play on classic rock radio.

I gotta say... I like their "sound", for the most part. But as semipenguin noted, after a while, it's just one jam after another. Plus, it still irks me that Sirius removed a perfectly good channel for this single artist channel.

I doubt I will be returning to the Grateful Dead Channel.

"Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me;
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me What a long, strange trip it's been

I listened to it for a while, some good songs. But I'm not much a fan of Grateful Dead. I doubt I will be returning to the Grateful Dead Channel as well.

I really enjoy the GD channel...of course, I'm a deadhead, but I like a lot of the other bands they play as well. Generally pretty good stuff to play as background music.
