Default WTD 2006 Week 4 - 05 Sirius gold

Girl Power!
Monday - Friday 1 pm ET
SIRIUS Gold features a block of songs from the First Ladies of Rock & Roll: The Angels, The Crystals, The Ronettes, Connie Francis, Mary Wells, Little Eva, The Dixie Cups, The Shangri-Las, Lesley Gore, The Shirelles, Martha & The Vandellas, Brenda Lee, Linda Scott and more!

Norm N. Nite – LIVE at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum!
Monday - Friday 3 - 6 pm ET
Most of the SIRIUS DJs work from our New York studios: not Norm. He gets to do his LIVE show, every weekday, from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio! Every day, Norm gets to walk through the Hall's permanent collection of vintage '50s stuff, including the "Rave On: Rock and Roll in the '50s" exhibit. Surrounded by stage clothes, instruments and lyric sheets, Norm brings you the best music from rock and roll's early years for three hours every weekday! And if you're visiting the Museum, stop by and say hi to Norm.

The Doo-Wop Drive-In
Sundays 9 pm - 12 am ET
Due to overwhelming response, our weekly Doo-Wop Drive-In has expanded! Now there are three full hours of great vocal groups and harmonies!

I was skeptical at first, thinking "This Channel is supposed to be the 50's, but a lot of the music seems to be from the 60s." However, all the songs seem to fit together well. Not really my first choice type of music, but it is very well programmed. I prefer to get my "oldies" fix from the 60s Vibrations.

Sirius Gold is a fun station and I listen to it for about an hour or so every week. They play music from the start of the rock era up until the British Invasion. I really like this approach. XM's 50's on 5 plays a lot of music from the early 50's which is closer in style to the 40's. Also, music didn't change instantly after Rock around the Clock and Elvis. There was still a lot of crooner music throughout the 50's.

Sirius Gold is a great and fun station. I"ll be back often.

Sirius Gold is one of my "A" presets. I like Norm N. Nite, Bill Rock and the other DJ's. I also like how they include the early 60's.
I have nothing bad to say about this channel.

Thumbs up This is the Music I Grew up With

05 Gold and Cuz Brucie is why I am with Sirius. (see my Sig)

I fell in love during the 50s and fell in love with this music. This is a passion with me. I listen to a lot of other stuff, but nothing gets to me like the Gold.

Norm N from the RR Hall of Fame has a great and deep palylist. Doo Wop is expanded on Sunday nights.

All baby boomers and older (like me) should try Sirius Gold. Music spans the beginning of RR in mid 50s to early 60s just before the British invasion. Some of you youngems can try it out and enjoy the birth of RR.

This was such a great time and I just love this stuff.

Default Cousin Brucie

Cuz Brucie is why I am with Sirius but he is on 6 Vibrations '60s.
He has now been inducted into the NYS Broadcasteers Association:
http://www.nysbroadcasters.org/hallo...ce-morrow.html

This picks up from the early 60s beginning with the British Invasions to mid 70s.

Not yet on WTD. Soon maybe

Well, it was your post that confused me then. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't listen to either channel every day, but I always do one or the other when my Mom's in the car.

Anyway, Gold is great. They just did "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's and "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison right in a row.

They're doing "The End of the World" by Skeeter Davis right now:

Why not get mom a Sirius for her home. I have a second pnp attached to my stereo with a second sub for only 7/mo.

Because I'm on disability and she's supporting my ass. Plus, knowing her, she's not interested. Also, she can't even use my wireless (land line) phone without handing it to me to hang it up.

Why does your sig say "SIRIUS GOLD w Brucie"?

They do a good job on that channel...good jocks and good music.
I like the old "WPEN Back Seat Music" jingles...those are fun. JAM Creative Productions made those in the 70's for WPEN in Philadelphia...KRLA in LA also used them when they were oldies. {can you tell I like jingles??}

Thumbs up

This channel is better then I thought it would be. I'm used to XM's Decade channels. I've been a fan of XM 6 for years, and I thought I'd heard most of the early '60s music. I was wrong.

I grew up listening to oldies. KRTH (K-EARTH 101) in Los Angeles, Ca is the radio station I grow up listening to. So this channel reminds me of that.

I've also heard songs that I haven't heard in a long time or ever. Songs from Chuck Berry. Ricky Nelson. I even heard Mocking Bird from Inez & Charlie Foxx. Reminded me of Dumb and Dumber...

Over all, a great station. I'll be putting it on my B Band Preset...

charliejay, I'm lucky enough to be able to do this. I bought my mom a Sirius for Christmas last year. This is one of her favorite channels. She grew up listening to this music...

The channel not bad, quite few oldie songs I do remember. But I probably wouldn't listen to it often!

When I first did this Sig, there was very limited room to fit it all in. Now it seem to have more room.

It looks better now and much better said.

What do you think ?
