I tend to like the broader range on the 80s channel...however, I do "Roam" over to 1st Wave every now and then to get a new wave Fixx ( sorry!). It's a "C" preset for me. Makes for some fun memories, but I usually don't last for more than three or four songs.
I'd call this an 80's niche channel...Hair Nation would be it's harder rocking counterpart.
Looking for help on Sirius/XM??

I like this channel. Plays a lot of songs I grew up to. I have it as a preset of mine. It's a nice change at times, or it sparks a memory.

Default A definite pre-set

I was lucky enought to go to college in NYC in the late 70s-early 80s. I got to see every great new wave band including the Clash, the Specials, the Ramones, the B-52s, etc. I saw a lot of these bands in small venues. It was a great time for music.

I like this station alot. MY only problem with it is that it often plays mid-1980s "pop" which masquerades as new wave. ABC and the "Fascination" are not new wave, IMO.

This station will always be a pre-set. However, the trigger finger is always ready to go at the end of a song....

This is one of my favorite Channels. Next to Alt Nation, this channel comes next. Richard Blade is one of my favorite DJs, having gotten to listen to him while I was going up.

They do need to ditch the Radio Edits. I cringe every time I hear the Radio Edit of Tears For Fears-Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Although I did hear Madison play the Album Version when she DJed one morning...

This is my A-1 preset, and my primary Sirius "home". Richard Blade is a great DJ, but if you find the playlist too restrictive (and lots of people do!), definately check out Fred Schneider's show on Friday night. It has a vibe all-its-own.

This is my number one music preset.

Party Out of Bounds with Fred Schneider is great.

And penguin, I love Everybody Wants to Rule the World, it's great singing in the shower music.
One of these guys is going to be our next president:

First Wave is one of my favorite channels along with The Big 80's and the Classic Rock channels. I tend to like the mid-80's pop songs that they play, but I agree with some here that they probably play too many songs like that. I heard Duran Duran's "Hungry like the Wolf" followed by U2's "With or Without You" played back to back. Two great songs, but venturing out too far from new wave type music.

The Big 80's does a great job covering the songs I grew up listening to. First Wave does the same, but also has introduced me to bands I either was not familiar with, or had forgotten about, like Haircut 100, Romeo Void, New Order, Joy Divison.
I'm going to try to give Dark Wave a listen on Sunday night.

I thought this was a good channel. I usually get my 80s Rock from Rewind or Hair Nation. But I really like hearing this channel too. And since this isn't really my top genre of 80s rock, there are always a few surprises and obscurities-to-me.

1st Wave is one of my top 5 favorite channels. Really takes me back to my high school days. Richard Blade and Freddy Snakeskin are 2 of my favorite DJs on Sirius. Good stuff!

Wow - what a great station. I love it. Great tunes, nice selection, nice mix. I will be back to 1st Wave and it will certainly be an A list preset for me!!! This will certainly be one of my favourites, thats for sure.

I'll be honest: I wasn't expecting to add any presets as a result of walking the dog. I was perfectly fine with what I had. I was even going to blow off 1st Wave, because I (mistakenly) thought it was all new wave music. I gave it an hour listen today, and I loved it. It is now a preset. This is awesome music, and definately a perfect (at work) channel. Great mix of music, very different from what I usually listen to (Shade 45 and HHN!) - and I got a lot of great ideas for beat samples!!

Of all the rock channels on Sirius, this is the one that most fails to live up to its potential. I like most of the songs (and I especially like Fred Schneider's show), but they really need to expand their playlist. Play more artists, and play more songs by the artists already heard.

First Wave is a great concept and it's one of my presets, but it can be much improved. I do like how they have weekends where they feature one artist. I hope R.E.M. is next; they're one of my favorites of all time.

I like most of the music on here. I wish they'd go a bit deeper into the music, however. Depeche Mode, for one, has much better album tracks than the hits.

This is my favorite channel. This is the music I listened to in high school and college, without most of the cheese that gets played on Big 80s.

As others have noted, they need to open up the playlist - how about some more US-style punk? They could also add some early-90s alt rock, because it gets lost in the shuffle on Alt Nation and Left of Center.

And Siriuis, I think we could make it through one whole hour without hearing The Cure and Depeche Mode. Give it a try sometime.

But having said that, it's still my favorite.
