Technically, there never was a channel called the Globe. They had a World music channel called Horizons (I think). This was taken off, with the promise that a new and improved World music channel was being worked on, and it would be called the Globe. That channel has yet to play its first note of music. The thing is, after Horizons was removed, XM decided to abandon World music. So Sirius no longer had the competetive pressure to provide World music. Goodbye Globe, hello Stones.

And this channel just further confirms that SIRIUS doesn't read the feedback given on this board...either that or they just don't give a shit.

BTW, speaking of The Globe, that got me to thinking that once RSS finally ends (if ever) that the vacancy left over would be the perfect spot to fill with the return of Vacation! Since it was formerly occupied by a world channel it would make perfect sense. Seriously, how cool would that be?!

Chad -

That would be cool. But I predict it won't happen.

In fact, I will make a prediction about what will replace the Stones, and I predict about zero percent of the people here will approve. During one of the conference calls this year, Mel said the Stones will remain through the end of this year. That means we can expect a change in January.

Now what big popular TV show starts in January? Hint - music plays a big part of this show. Plus it is a show that REALLY likes to have cross-promotions. And it will stop at nothing to try to get its product out there. I'm talking CD's, concerts, T-shirts, mugs, anything to squeeze the last dollar out of the public (mostly teenagers with extra spending money).

That's right - I predict there will be an American Idol channel. Think about it - among all the previous contestants, there's enough crappy CDs to fill a full channel already. And they could have commentators throughout the competition, and replay the songs from that week's broadcast.

Now, musically this would be the worst possible channel out there. But in terms of marketing for AI and for Sirius, this would be a winner. It would bring in new subs.

Bring on your attacks!!
