Default WTD 2006 Final Week - 19 Buzzsaw

Walk this way and hop on the crazy train for big, hard, heavy classic rock. Hendrix, Ozzy, AC/DC... it's the music that shook you all night long and rocked you like a hurricane!

What we play: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Scorpions, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many more.

How can you go wrong there? That's good stuff!

I like Buzzsaw as it is programmed now, but it has room for improvement, IMHO. I'd like to see it play a little less of the things that play on Classic Rewind. This is the one channel on Sirius that I'm willing to agree overlaps significantly with other channels.
Still, I'm glad Sirius offers this channel. It's a great place to rock!

How would you program this channel without the overlap? It just seems to me that "Hard, heavy, & classic" naturally would be stuff that overlaps... Hendrix, Rolling Stones, etc from Classic Vinyl, Van Halen from Classic Rewind, Def Leppard from Hair Nation, etc.

I agree that all those artists belong on Buzzsaw. My problem is when Buzzsaw plays stuff that doesn't rock quite as hard like J.Geils Band, Bob Seger, Billy Idol, or John Mellencamp.
(Only a minor complaint)

or Skynard. Can we finally just take Skynard out back and shot it in the head?

I enjoy this channel, and it's already a preset. The DJs are all good.

However, I do agree that this is the one rock channel that has the most overlap with others. When new channels are introduced, dropping prior channels, people always complain that the channels dropped are not in the rock category. As much as I like this channel, Buzzsaw would be the most likely rock channel to drop if you had to drop one. Everything heard here can be found elsewhere (Rewind, Hair Nation, etc.). You can't really say that about any other rock channel.

I'm not saying I want this channel dropped, I'm just saying it's the most likely rock channel to drop.

Up until this week for WTD, I haven't had a chance to listen to Buzzsaw. I tuned in this week and WOW! I LOVE it. I haven't stopped listening to it yet! I think its great. I can't really comment on the amout of overlap that occurs between Buzzsaw and the other rock stations. But I know this will be a A list preset for me. More Buzzsaw!!

I listen to this channel when my girlfriend is in the car. I should listen more, but for some reason I don't. It's a really good channel.

I'll try and listen more on the weekends...

This channel has the worst programmed playlist on Sirius. It is all over the map and they play way too many bands that do not fit the discription of the channel.

It should be 1000x's better then it is now. This is the type of channel that I could use to sell SatRad to friends of mine that aren't subs yet, but I would be embrassed to to let them know what Sirius calls hard and heavy.

hey back in the 80s we called thin lizzy heavy. in the 70s we even called foreigner heavy. its the age diffrence. i am almost 40 buzzsaw is hard and heavy to me. hard attack is metal. buzzsaw is hard rock. hair nation is also metal. it all depends on you age. which i suspect is around 25.

My 4 year old asks for Buzzsaw and Hair Nation. There is hope.

A most excellent channel. One of my "A" presets from the get-go.

It's true they play a few songs that don't classify as "hard and heavy", but that gives the channel a little balance IMO.

There is some overlap with other channels, but not bad overall. The repetition level is within acceptable limits---the playlist still beats the heck out of any FM classic rock station I've ever listened to.

I give the channel an A- and a big thumbs up.
