Post Short Playlists and what I'd REALLY like to hear

I have XM at the office (darn DirecTV) and Sirius everywhere else. Well, I do have MusicChoice from Charter cable at the weekend home, but that's another story, along with missing my old DMX box and its remote.

Anyway, The Bridge should be the Jackson Browne channel, since he used to be heard about hourly. This has been improved somewhat since the Bridge has reopened.

Sirius Pops seems to have a 200-song list. But maybe that's the whole idea. At least you hear movie soundtracks without dialogue on Sirius Pops (XM's movie music channel is distracting with snippets of dialogue) and the picks are lighter than XM's. I like the hosts and the music on Sirius' main classical channel better than XM, too

Sirius Jazz Cafe and XM Watercolors are pretty close, but again I prefer Sirius for a better mix. "New Music" is fairly rare on both and you need to "watch the radio" to catch what most of what's new on Sirius after the DJ's were dropped.

Finally, XM used to have MSNBC and I'd love to have it on Sirius. Keith, Dan, Chris and David in a repeat cycle (rather than their late evening "doc block") and Joe in the morning would make it on lots of radios, especially in morning and afternoon drive time.

We'll probably never get the local NPR members to let us have Morning Edition and ATC in real-time and MSNBC would be a good option.

I would love to know where one gets the idea that Sirius plays the same 200 songs over and over...
You seem new... Hang around for a few years and you will begin to cringe every time you hear
the same AC/DC, Def Leppard, and Gun Roses songs everyday on Rewind, Buzzsaw and Hair Nation and if you missed Back In Black on those... Big 80's will play it for you.

Octane is just as bad. Whatever the big thing is at the moment gets played at least once every four hours.

I am looking forward to MLB and College sports (ACC, Big Ten, Big Twelve)

I also used to listen to Ron & Fez but I am not about to spend $6 more to get the O&A channel.

IMO, isn't that more "song overlap" as opposed to what it seems people are complaining about? I always thought people were complaining about a channel (say Buzzsaw) playing a certain song 5-6 times a day.

IMO, this "song overlap" is something that we have to deal with. If there's a song that was written in the 80's in the style of hard rock, and was fairly popular that year, shouldn't it belong on multiple channels? Wouldn't XM have to deal with to some extent this as well?

i would like to have Lucy, MLB and the rap station that bleeps out swears for when my son is in the car. Sirius doesn't have any hip/hop rap channels that are censored...

As far as music?? "Depth" and songs being played in a row without annoying dj stories about what they did last night or about anything else irrelevant.

Sounds good! We're definitely lacking any decent soul oldies channel at Sirius. Hopefully they'll combine the two services effectively.

They have a 40s and 90s channels in their decades, Sirius does not. Watercolors 71 is a fine smooth jazz channel on XM.
I was coming to this thread to say the same thing, but I knew Joe would beat me to it! Sadly, I hate to be a pessimist but if the merge the two channels, classic R&B will fall by the waistside as usual. They will determine that Sirius Soultown will serve everybody and we won't need to hear anything deeper. So we're gonna hear Sam Cooke's "You Send Me" followed by "All Night Long" by Lionel Ritchie and no one will be the wiser. And we'll hear "Lady Marmalade" and pretend like we haven't heard it in a long time.......

Give me Fungus 53 from XM and I'll keep everything else as it is. It's the only thing I really miss from XM.

There are a few XM channels I wouldn't mind having. I would love to have the NHL and IRL channels, Kenny Chesney's No Shoes Radio (though it looks like a limited engagement gig), and the right-wing radio channel has more names I recognize. I listen to Lucy and Cinnemagic on directv every once in awhile.
