Question What's on XM to be excited about?

If the Indians were any good this year, baseball would be something to look forward to. Beyond that, I've no idea.

If I could choose my XM 11 channels, 2 of them would be Texas Rangers baseball and Dallas Stars hockey. But the LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns football and basketball games would be nice too. So would Cinemagic and Bob Edwards.

The Cinemagic channel sounds like a cool novelty channel to listen to from time to time. I'd also love to be able to listen to Baseball while Im at work.

A 40's station sounds very cool. I know 50's and above. Nothing of 40's. A good sign for XM music channels. Their reputation for having commercials on music channels is scary.

Primosphere Limited Partnership was one of four companies bidding for Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service, or SDARS, licenses in the United States. The service would have been an advertisement-supported digital audio service with an emphasis on serving music genres that had lost exposure in the terrestrial radio market during that period, such as classic jazz, "beautiful music," "pop standards," and swing music. Two dedicated public radio talk channels were also proposed along with traditional talk radio channels.
1996: Clifford Burnstein, resident of New York and a partner in entertainment industry company Q-Prime, along with Peter Mensch bids $68 million for an SDARS license through holding company Primosphere Limited Partnership with the stated intention of restoring music genres no longer available in major radio markets.

Since you're a NASCAR fan, you might like IndyCar Series Racing...

Also, you might like The Agenda with Joe Solmonese...

I love XM 6, 8, 9, 20, 26, 30, just to name a few...

Music channels that do not play the same 200 songs over and over. Being a Sirius lifer, I am stoked about that. Also Lucy is one sat station that I can actually listen to for hours without changing.

XM doesn't have commercials on any music channels programmed by them. Any music channels that DO have commercials are programmed by Clear Channel due to a contractual obligation. Those channels have commercial-free counterparts programmed by XM. This is a total non-issue.

XM offers great R&B channels, Soul Street 60 ( 50s and 60s classic soul- no match on Sirius for this), The Groove 64 ( 70s & 80s funk and old skool) again no station on Sirius offering this full time , and Suite 62 urban adult contemporary ( best matched up by Heart & Soul on Sirius). They have a 40s and 90s channels in their decades, Sirius does not. Watercolors 71 is a fine smooth jazz channel on XM.

I'm certainly looking forward to having MLB -and- NFL. But I'm most looking forward to The Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour. Good times.

I hope that Underground Garage survives the merger - that station is the shiite.

Default What I'm not looking forward to

As an aging boomer I really can't stand XM's 60s and 70s channels. Sirius has the sense to program the Sirius 60s with music from the mid 60s to the first part of the 70s (73 or so.) Sirius 60s plays the music of the era not the chronological period.

I would love to know where one gets the idea that Sirius plays the same 200 songs over and over...
